During my Spring break of my final year at James Madison University, I went to France with my family as a toast to the end of my college experience and the beginning of a new chapter. A great escape from the daily alarm clock I had set for class, I was woken up everyday to the smell of a freshly baked pan o chocolate waiting to be eaten. I enjoyed the walkability of the city of Paris since I am not used to that back home in Virginia. I was truly amazed watching the daily rush hour traffic and imagining my life as if I was a Parisian. As my family and I took the metro everyday to get to different destinations, I was inspired by the fashion and etiquette of the individuals around me.
So many aspect of France differed from my experience in America, and I found many similarities with my Scottish background. Even in the way Parisians drive is different, and I spent the week soaking in the French culture. As someone who took Spanish throughout high school, I had no previous experience using French. Those whom I interacted with in Paris were extremely willing to teach and encouraging in my attempt to properly order my steak frites at dinner.
